Pride of Ringwood is a much maligned hop here in Australia. That’s because we find it in nearly every single beer from our large scale breweries. The notable exception is the XXXX Bitter (cloneish recipe here).What’s funny is that we don’t see Brits going “Ewwww Goldings, I’ll never use that, it’s so common!” or the Germans saying “Ewwww Hallertauer Mittelfrueh, Ich werde niemals, dass es so blich ist!”So we’ve got a bit of a snob factor going on with the humble Pride of Ringwood hop. Fully realising this, I’ve put my money where my mouth is and invested on a packet of the 2010 crop Pride of Ringwood hops in flower/cone form.
